Terms & Conditions

1. Route & Trip Changes

While we aim to operate all trips as advertised, the location and route of your trip may change due to canal closures, navigation restrictions, weather conditions, or other circumstances beyond our control.

If this occurs, a suitable alternative trip or route will be arranged. Such changes do not entitle passengers to a refund.

2. Skipper’s Authority

The skipper’s decision is final on all matters relating to the safety and wellbeing of passengers, crew, and the vessel.

Best Yorkshire Boating reserves the right to:

  • Refuse boarding or travel to any individual
  • Terminate a trip early
  • Refuse service to anyone behaving in an unsafe, disruptive, or intoxicated manner

No refund will be given in these circumstances.

3. Children & Supervision

All children under 14 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Children under 1 year of age do not require a ticket, however this is limited to a maximum of two infants per accompanying adult.

Adults are fully responsible for the safety and behaviour of children in their care.

4. Alcohol Consumption

Passengers may bring alcohol onboard unless otherwise stated, however all alcohol must be consumed responsibly.

Best Yorkshire Boating reserves the right to refuse boarding or stop the trip if alcohol consumption results in unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate behaviour.

5. Cancellations & Refunds (Public Trips)

No refunds will be issued within 31 days of the booked trip date.

Cancellations made more than 31 days before the trip may be eligible for a refund or transfer at our discretion.

If Best Yorkshire Boating cancels a trip, passengers will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to another date.

6. Private Skippered Hire Bookings

A non-refundable 20% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your private hire.

Full payment must be made no later than 31 days before the hire date.

If full payment is not received by this date, Best Yorkshire Boating reserves the right to cancel the booking and retain the deposit. The date may then be released for resale.

Cancellation terms for private hire bookings follow the same 31-day no refund policy unless otherwise agreed in writing.

7. Safety Compliance

All passengers must:

  • Follow crew instructions at all times
  • Remain seated when instructed
  • Use safety equipment when required

Failure to follow safety guidance may result in removal from the vessel without refund.

8. Liability

Passengers join trips at their own risk. Best Yorkshire Boating accepts no responsibility for:

  • Loss or damage to personal belongings
  • Injuries resulting from failure to follow safety instructions

Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
